I plan to use my degree to:
In the near future I plan to use my degree to continue my education as a Master’s student at the University of Georgia in the Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics program. My research will focus on peanut breeding and I know my NC State education and research experience will be of great benefit during this time. Beyond my education, I hope to use my degree to one day help farmers through research and plant breeding. I have always had a passion for science and helping farmers improve their practices, and I know my NC State degree will help me greatly with this.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at NC State was:
There is so much that I enjoyed while a student at NC State. Academically, I thoroughly enjoyed all my classes and the students and professors I got the opportunity to meet along the way. I also enjoyed my experiences as a CALS Ambassador and doing undergraduate research, both taught me much about myself and NC State. Outside of the classroom, my favorite experiences were football games in Carter-Finley with friends and enjoying some Howling Cow ice cream by the pint at the end of a long week!
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My greatest supporters were my parents and family, many of whom were NC State alumni so I loved continuing the Wolfpack legacy. I also received wonderful support from friends, new and old, and my campus ministry and church family. Academically, I was fortunate to receive support from many of my professors and the CALS Ambassadors team. Dr. Edmisten and Dr. Crouse were a great support system for advising and choosing my path through Crop and Soil sciences after changing my major freshman year. Lastly, Dr. Ramsey Lewis and his lab team provided an amazing research experience and much needed support through my time as an undergraduate researcher and presenting my project.
Now that I have graduated, I’m most looking forward to:
While I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an NC State student, I am excited to see what the future holds beyond the brickyard! I look forward to saying that I am an NC State and CALS alumni, and will forever be grateful for my time in the Crop and Soil Science department. I look forward to my next two years as a masters student and seeing what Georgia has to offer. I am also looking forward to seeing where my education will take me and who I can help along the way.
